I also love to have an easy cornbread recipe I can whip up for Thanksgiving. When in need,I like to break out this delicious and easy skillet cornbread recipe.

Quick and Easy Skillet Cornbread Recipe

It’s a quick recipe, and it goes well with just about everything. If you are looking for an easy cornbread recipe, you are in the right place!

There are times when I don’t mind being in the kitchen all day long, and then there are times when I would rather not spend all day in the kitchen.

When I am making some of my favorite recipes, they can take a while and it can become a little discouraging. Not to mention, I seem to be getting a little forgetful in my “old” age.

What do I need to make skillet cornbread?

At the beginning of the week, I asked everyone what they would like for dinner so I could create my meal plan and head off to the grocery store.

I really had slow cooker recipes in mind because of how easy they are, but when it came time to make the red beans and rice that my husband had asked for, I remembered at the last minute that I forgot to make the cornbread.

Don’t you hate it when that happens?

The good news about this easy cornbread skillet recipe is that it is indeed EASY. There is no special separation of ingredients or whisking this and mixing of that.

You literally throw it all into the mixer and then into the skillet. It tastes just as good, and it saves time – and dishes!

INGREDIENTS IN CORNBREAD

You need to have a few simple ingredients on hand, and you probably already have them at home.

  • butter (3/4 softened for the recipe and the rest to rub in the skillet)
  • milk
  • egg
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • granulated sugar
  • all-purpose flour
  • yellow cornmeal

HOW TO MAKE CORNBREAD:

  1. Heat the oven to 425.
  2. When cutting the stick of butter to soften, make sure you keep the last 1/4 to rub all over your skillet. This will help keep the cornbread from sticking to the skillet.
  3. Now here comes the fun part. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer, just throw everything in there and put it on slow speed for 20 seconds, and then medium speed for another 20 seconds. You can also use a hand mixer.
  4. Remove from the mixer and pour the mixture into your prepared skillet.
  5. Bake, and eat!

The batter is thick, so you will need a spoon or spatula to help pour into the skillet.

  • crawfish (YES! You can make crawfish cornbread and it’s so good!)

You can also change the ingredients up by substituting buttermilk for milk, or even add in a bit of sour cream or plain yogurt.
