Ingredients You Will Need

Pineapples– Fresh, ripe yet firm pine apple that is not overly sour. It is a good idea to taste the fruit for sweetness t decide the amount of sugar. Depending upon the sweetness of the fruit you can add more or less sugar.

Sugar– I have used organic sugar here. You can also use powdered jaggery, cane sugar, palm sugar too.

Whole spices– In this recipe I have used a small piece of cinnamon, fennel seeds, cardamom powder, cloves and chili flakes. You can also powder them and add if you prefer.

Oil– For whole recipe I have used 3 teaspoons oil. You can easily use 1 teaspoon or even leave out oil. See my notes below to make this recipe without oil.

Raisins– I like to add a generous dose of black raisins in this chutney. They add a wonderful bite and flavor. You can also add golden raisins in this recipe.

Step by Step Method

Heat 3 teaspoons oil in a pan and add whole spices. Saute well without browning them.

Instead you can add 1.5 teaspoons garam masala powder.

Make sure to chop the pineapples finely for fine texture.

For this recipe you can also use pineapple tidbits or even canned pineapples. If using sweetened pineapples make sure to reduce the sugar in the recipe.

Is This Pineapple ChutneySame As Pineapple Salsa?

No they are two different condiments.

Pineapple salsa is a no cook salad like condiment where you combine fresh pineapples with onions, chilies and herbs like cilantro. We also add lime juice for flavor.

This chutney is a cooked condiment as seen here, it is made with spices, sugar and pineapples. You basically cook the pineapple thoroughly in sugar.

It tastes excellent with any grilled vegetables or meat or seafood.

It is also a wonderful addition as side dish in your cheese platter.

We love this with cracker and cream cheese.
